Having a set of voluminous, long, and sexy lashes is every woman’s dream. Most of us use mascara or false lashes regularly to achieve this purpose, but they require patience to apply, and you have to keep repeating the exercise, day after day. Who has time for that? This inconvenient repetition is the reason why everyone is raving about eyelash extensions these days.

Eyelash extensions give your lashes a fuller, thicker appearance, and they last for up to 4 weeks so that you can go about your normal life without worrying about mascara and falsies daily. Unlike the traditional false strip lashes, you need to visit a professional for lash extensions, and the process takes between two to three hours to complete the first session. Your maintenance will consist of fill-ins every three weeks, which can last from half an hour to one hour, depending upon your lash growth. The extensions are usually applied to the top lash line of your lashes with semi-permanent glue. If eyelash extensions sound appealing to you, you should continue reading to learn about the different varieties of lashes available before you take the plunge.

Classic Lash Extensions

In this system, the technician will apply the extensions to your natural lashes in a 1:1 ratio, which means that you will have a single extension glued to each of your lashes. The lash diameter ranges from 0.15 mm to 0.18 mm, and the whole set usually weighs only a few grams so that it won’t fatigue your eyes.

Classic lashes are great for women who want to subtly increase the volume and length but still want to retain a natural look. Let me put it like this, having a set of classic lashes will give you similar results as wearing mascara all the time! These are well-perfectly suited for women with naturally thick lashes, but they want to get that extra flutter. Classic lashes are cost-effective and only take about 2 hours to apply. A full set of Classic Lash Extensions costs about $200 and fill-ins about $100.

Volume Lash Extensions

If you want to have fuller, thicker, and more dramatic lashes, you need to look into volume lashes. While the classic lash extensions use a 1:1 ratio, with volume lashes, you can take this ratio up to 6:1. Yes, you read that right! With volume lashes, the results will be much more dramatic, and your lashes will be so much denser.

You can choose between 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D, and 6D lashes. As the name implies, in 2D extensions, two lashes are glued two a single lash, and in 3D, three lashes are glued, and so on.

2D lashes are great if you want some flair but still want to look natural. 6D lashes will give you the full-blown effect, and your lashes would look almost theatrical.

Even though more than one lash will be glued on, it doesn’t mean that you have to carry all that extra weight. Most volume lashes have a diameter of 0.7 mm or less, so a 2D lash set will weigh about the same as classic lashes, and 6D lashes will only be a little heavier.

Volume lashes are a great choice if you have sparse or short natural lashes. They replicate the look of false lashes, and you will always have sexy eyelashes. The downside is that they are expensive and cost much more than classic lashes depending on your chosen density. Volume Lash Extensions can set you back $300&up for a full set, and fill-ins will start at $150, depending on the volume you select.
